November 2026 State Ballot Questions

  1. Firearms Law Referendum

    • A YES vote would keep the 2024 Massachusetts firearms law in place.

    • A NO vote would repeal that law. 

  2. State Primary Elections

    • Would change how state primary elections are conducted by implementing an all-party primary system, with the top candidates advancing to the general election regardless of party. 

  3. Expanding the Public Records Law

    • Would make the Governor’s Office, Legislature, and certain other government records subject to the state’s public records law, increasing government transparency. 

  4. Natural Resource Conservation Fund

    • Would create a dedicated fund for conservation, parks, trails, wildlife habitat, and outdoor recreation using specified state tax revenues. 

  5. Collective Bargaining for CPCS Employees

    • Would allow employees of the Committee for Public Counsel Services (the agency that oversees public defenders) to unionize and collectively bargain. 

  6. Election Day Registration

    • Would allow eligible residents to register to vote or update their registration on Election Day and vote immediately. 

  7. Single-Family Homes

    • Would make it easier to build single-family homes on smaller lots in communities with adequate infrastructure by limiting certain local zoning restrictions. 

  8. State Revenue Limit and Taxpayer Rebates

    • Would tighten the state’s revenue cap and require additional surplus tax revenue to be returned to taxpayers when collections exceed the limit. 

  9. Prohibit Retail Sale of Adult Recreational Marijuana (pending legal challenge)

    • Would end the legal retail sale of recreational marijuana in Massachusetts.

    • A decision on whether this question will appear on the ballot is expected after review by the State Ballot Law Commission.
